![]() ![]() Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is currently in development for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Once we feel we are maybe a month away from release, we’ll be able to announce our full release date with an exact day.” ![]() ![]() “To say we are tired of how much all this has derailed our day to day work since the start of winter is an understatement. Luckily, the game is at a point where content implementation is complete, and so they’re moving into doing final QA, polishing and launch setup. “We had been trying so hard to make our planned release window, but the continual interruptions to power on top of the frequent missile attacks since October meant we had to replan and reschedule almost every month,” explains Sergiy Oganesyan, Head of Publishing at Frogwares. The development team has released a video explaining the current situation in Ukraine, and why the game has been delayed. Previously announced for a release this month, the mashup of Lovecraft and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle will be pushed back to “late March/April 2023″. With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, it’s no surprise that developer Frogwares has announced a delay in the release of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. In the meantime, you can experience Condemned: Criminal Origins on PC via Steam. But given that Konami has revived the Silent Hill series, alongside a resurrection of Alone in The Dark by THQ Nordic, there’s still hope that we’ll see Condemned again. However, as noted by the GVMERS documentary, the series really hangs on the first game, as Condemned 2 never received a PC port, and isn’t playable on newer PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Plus, according to Hall, both Condemned games sold well. Hall himself still owns the IP, so it’s not an issue of Warner Bros (who owns Monolith) blocking any attempts at another game. Meanwhile, Condemned 2: Bloodshot‘s change in story and gameplay (not to mention an ill-conceived multiplayer mode) led to fans being divided over the game, and ultimately put any sequels on the backburner for Monolith.Īs Luiz mentions in his article above, Monolith co-founder and co-creator of the Condemned concept Jace Hall is still waiting on a “proven indie development team” to take the series’ reigns and resurrect it with a third entry. Simply put, we want to create the best gaming site in the world. The new documentary covers how Condemned: Criminal Origins’ claustrophobic setting and creepy atmosphere combined with its combat mechanics to make for some of the scariest late-night gaming. Riot Pixels is a new ambitious website dedicated to games for PC, consoles and mobile platforms. With that, GVMERS are back once again to look at both entries in the series. It also makes it that much more frustrating that Monolith never gave us a third installment. Admittedly, while the second game didn’t quite live up to the first, it was still a good game that took risks in trying new things. The Condemned series of games were some of the best horror you could find on the 7th generation of consoles. ![]()
